TREKKING ALONG THE RÍO YARIAPU (7 DAYS)

DIFFICULTY LEVEL : 2     

FIRST DAY. LA PAZ - RURRENABAQUE We will leave the city of La Paz by regular flight (40´). Arrival to the village of Rurrenabaque. Hotel

SECOND DAY: RURRENABAQUE - SAN BUENA VENTURA - PARASA During the morning we will cross the river Beni (5´) in a public transportation boat, we will visit the TACANA CULTURAL CENTER in San Buena Ventura, then we will continue by 4WD into the MADIDI NATIONAL PARK. After 3 hrs. we will arrive to the river Yariapu. From now on we will start our walk river down, along the stream (3 hrs.) to arrive until Parasa. (450 m. above sea level). Camping.

THIRD DAY: PARASA - CACHUELA We will continue walking beside the river observing a greath quantity of birds, fishes and some mammals. We will also have the chance to observe the primary and secondary forests and the natural reforestation. After 7 hrs. of walk we will arrive to Cachuela (430 m. above sea level). Camping

FOURTH DAY: CACHUELA - TUHICHI LAUGHS During the morning we will continue walking along stream of river Yariapu, and then we go into the forest where we will have the chance to observe some species of monkey like Marimonos (Ateles Paniscus), whistler (Cebus Apella), maneche (alawata seniculos). We will arrive to the river Tuhichi (7 hrs.). Camping.

FIFTH DAY: RIVER TUHICHI - CHALALAN During the morning we will visit the saltpetre in Penena, where the mammals meet to lick the salt that is contained in the sand (3 hrs,). After visiting that we will continue beside river southway by CALLAPO (Kind of fluvial transportation built with wood raft by the TACANA tribe), we arrive until the Port of entrance to the CHALALAN Ecolodge (1 hr. by Callapo.). 5 starts hotel.

SIXTH DAY: CHALALAN - RURRENABAQUE During the morning we will walk up to the Watcher. From here, we will have a spectacular view of the lagoon and its surrounds. We will return by canoe along the lagoon CHALALAN to the Ecolodge. After lunch we will Return to Rurrenabaque By boat. Before our arrival we will make a stop in Caquiawara, to observe nests of PARABAS (parrots). Rurrenabaque (4 hrs.). Hotel

SEVENTH DAY: RETURN TO LA PAZ We will return to La Paz by 4WD (12 hrs.) visiting some beautifull villages like Caranavi and Coroico and we will go trough the world most dangerous road up to La Paz.

THE PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING Trekking shoes (water resistant), sandals, light clothes, light sleeping bag, rain coat and trousers, sun hat, sun block, sun glasses, personal back pack, torch, knife, water bottle, personal first aid kit, water purification tablets, mosquitos repellent, mosquito net are suggested.
