THE GOLD ROUTE (7 days)
From April to December

This tour will take us to visit beautiful places that were famous in the past times because of gold exploitation. The first part of the trip will be across the highland up to 5000 mts, afterward we will descend into the lukewarm Yungas valleys, where is located Sorata, continuing to Consata we'll reach the true gold mines area rich of many rivers. The main villages are: Santa Rosa de Mapiri and Guanay. Between Guanay and Caranavi is located the main area of fruit and coffee production of Bolivia.

All the tour will be on dirt and mud road with many rivers to cross (no bridges)

FIRST DAY: Arrival in La Paz. Day available for acclimatizing at the altitude, city tour etc..

SECOND DAY: La Paz - Achacachi - Sorata (5 hrs.). Leaving from La Paz we'll go up to the CORDILLERA REAL DE LOS ANDES, (Ande's Range) having great views, skirting the Lake Titikaka, until we arrive to the village of Sorata. Hotel

THIRD DAY: Sorata - Consata - Mapiri (8 hrs). Leaving from Sorata we will go to Consata through a quite difficult road, because of the curves, cliffs etc. It's a paradise because of the scenic views unique and unforgettable. Until Puente Yungas the landscape is Andean, then we go into the sub-tropical vegetation. After Consata will start the Challenge with many river to cross and a mud road Arrival to Mapiri village. Basic lodging.

FOURTH DAY: Mapiri - Guanay (6 hrs.). All of these villages were the center of gold exploitation, now they continue receiving few quantities of the precious metal that comes from the surrounding mines. Leaving Mapiri we can appreciate the real Amazon jungle landscape, until reaching Guanay. Basic lodging.

FIFTH DAY: Guanay - Caranavi - Coroico. (6 hrs.). Leaving Guanay, skirting the river Coroico, we will arrive to Caranavi, admiring the fruit and coffee plantations. After we take a rest and lunch and then we continue forward to Coroico. Hotel.

SIXTH DAY: Coroico - La Paz (3 hrs.). According to the "South America Handbook", this is the most scenic route in South America at the same time to be the Worlds most dangerous road, because it drive you from the 1700 m. high of Coroico, until the 4600 m. high of the Yungas Pass, in less than 3 hrs (50 Km). Hotel. SEVENTH DAY: Departure from La Paz.

Support vehicle available for passengers with an additional cost of 520 $US per person.

NOTICES: This is a quite difficult trip, therefore it's advisable just for experts in motorcycles or ATV handling.        

NOTE: There is a deductible of 500 $US that the driver have to pay in case of accident or replace the broken parts in base at a spare parts price list given at the departure.
