APOLOBAMBA NORTH PELECHUCO – SUCHES LAKE (8 Days)

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: 2

FIRST DAY: LA PAZ - PELECHUCO We will leave La Paz by private transportation. From the village of Achacachi we will skirt the lake Titikaka, then through the ULLA ULLA NATURAL SANCTUARY OF CAMELIDOS (called vicuñas) we will arrive to the village of Pelechuco to 3.500 m. above sea level (9 hrs.). Basic Lodging.

SECOND DAY: PELECHUCO - MAKARA With an easy walk of 3 hrs. we will arrive to our camp at 4.200 m. above sea level.

THIRD DAY: MAKARA - CHIRIMASAYA We will ascend up to arrive to SANCHES pass at 4.850 m. above sea level and with a beautiful view of the CORDILLERA DE APOLOBAMBA. Below, we will observe the sub tropical vegetation of Yungas. We will descend until arrive at the Chirimasaya Lagoon at 4.100 m. above sea level (5 hrs.)

FOURTH DAY: CHIRIMASAYA - SORAL LAGOON We will be walking along a path until reaching a pass at 4.600 m. above sea level. After some ascents and descents we will arrive to the SORAL Lagoon (6 hrs.). Camping at 4.400 m. above sea level.

FIFTH DAY: SORAL LAGOON - BASE LUSUNI We will cross the APOLOBAMBA's range from East to West. We will descend until 4.300 m. above sea level, into the valley of Lusuni. We will start the ascend until the pass. Camping at 4.700 m. above sea level. (6 hrs.).

SIXTH DAY: BASE LUSUNI - VISCACHANI PASS A quite exhausting day. We have the highest pass of the expedition (5.100 m. above sea level). From now on we will get into Peruvian territory, with very sheer ascents and descents, but the reward will be the surrounding landscape. We will camp at 4.600 m. above sea level. (8 hrs.)

SEVENTH DAY: VISCACHANI PASS - SUCHES LAKE We will ascend until two little crossroads, The descent will be hard until arriving to the highway. Arrival to the Lake SUCHES, the frontier between Bolivia and Peru. camping beside the lake at 4.800 m. above sea level (8 hrs.)

EIGHTH DAY: SUCHES LAKE - LA PAZ A 9 hours return by private transportation. We will stop in ULLA ULLA to enjoy his thermal waters.

THE PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING: Trekking shoes, anorak, sleeping bag (mountain), warm clothes, gloves, woolen bonnet, mountain glasses, sun block, thermal underwear, water bottle, torch, knife, personal first aid kit, ,
