FIRST DAY: TIWANAKU Departure from the city of La Paz up to the city of El Alto, from the city of El Alto we will start this bicycle trip.
With spectacular views of LA CORDILLERA REAL and of the Lake Titikaka., we will go through important historical places and we will have time to visit the villages. Laja y Tambillo (The place where the city of Nuestra Señora de La Paz was found). We will visit Tiwanaku, the most important archaeological place in Bolivia; The birthplace of the TIWANACOTA culture around 1000 b.C. and that lasted almost 2000 years before its disappearance. We will camp in the town of Tiwanaku at 3950 m. above the sea level of high. 3 hrs. by bicycle. SECOND DAY: CHIRIPA We will continue the bicycle tour up to the town of Santa Rosa that is located in Lake Titikaka shore. The eucalyptus trees forest and the concentration of birds near to the lake stands out a contrast with the arid highland that we have crossed. We will camp on the beach. 6 hrs. by bicycle. THIRD DAY: PUERTO PÉREZ We will follow a path along the south shore of Lake Titikaka, up to Puerto Pérez, where we will spent the night in a hotel. 6 hrs. by bicycle. FOURTH DAY: SURIKI - PALCOCO We will continue 2 hrs. up to the town of Batallas, there we will take a rest and visit the Suriki island, using a motorized boat, where ships made with Totora are still built in the traditional way. After lunch we will leave Lake Titikaka and continue by the Pan-American highway, up to Palcoco, The town where the entrance to the National Park Condoriri is located. We will camp at 3950 m. above the sea level. FIFTH DAY. ESPERANZA We will follow a sandy and rocky jeep print, between the walls of the sheer mountain. Accompanied with wonderful views of the crests of the solid Condoriri in front of us. We will camp on the shore of lagoon Esperanza, at 4.600 m, above the sea level. A 6 hrs. bicycle ride SIXTH DAY: CHARQUINI An abandoned jeep print will takes us up to a 5000 m. high crossroad, we will be crossing the impressive snowy of Huayna Potosí (6.080 m above sea level). We will camp in a small tableland at 4.750 m. above sea level. A 5 hrs. bicycle ride.
SEVENTH DAY: PONGO We will have to carry our bicycles over our shoulders for a little while, since this is sand and crumbled stone land. Later we will descend with panoramic views of the snowy ones. The last hour of descent is along a paved road up to the fishing center of PONGO. We will camp at 3.600 m. above the sea level, a 7 hrs. bicycle ride. EIGHTH DAY: COROICO It will be a quite different day. We will leave the high mountains and glaciers behind to get into the subtropical valleys of Yungas., it will take us just 10 km. to descent inside a hot and humid sub-tropical valley.
Yungas is a transition area between The Amazonía rainy forests and the mountains covered with snow and glaciers of the cordillera real, during the descent, we will go through small indigenous populations, where coca plantations exist, we will arrive to the village of Coroico (1.750 m. above sea level). This day we will descent 3.000 m. above the se3a level, Hotel. a 5 hrs. bicycle ride. NINTH DAY: CARANAVI From Coroico we will continue descending, along the rivers, through rocky cliffs up to the population of Caranavi(main coffee producer). Hotel. A 6 hrs. bicycle ride. TENTH DAY: RETURN TO LA PAZ. A 6 hrs. trip by bus.
